Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American TV reporter, journalist and anchor for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language and culture from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career in the field of radio and television reporter in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. She was then a reporter for the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP), situated in Washington DC. After two years, she joined NBC News as a Washington reporter. She began to cover the White House in 1981 and was promoted to chief congressional correspondent by 1988. She was promoted to the chief White House correspondent in 1992 and chief foreign affairs reporter in 1994 for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell appeared as both the host and panelist for the TV news show Meet the Press. She was part of a panel discussion at the 1988 Presidential Debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded numerous times in journalism, among them the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. The award was presented to her with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award from the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell reported on in the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 between the terms of Ronald Reagan's second term as president. Her coverage included a variety of important stories like the Iran-Contra controversy, tax and budget reforms and also the arms control. Mitchell traveled extensively along with the president Reagan for summits with Mikhail Gorbachev.
